Creme egg cravings

April 29, 2008

I’ve got almost a fetish for creme eggs right now…but they’re selling out fast due to easter being over.

It always amazes me how the ‘yolk’ stays in the middle…even through transportation.

Oh well, till next year….

Since the hand-made chocolate shop went out of business, it’s all mass produces nonsense we’re forced to buy.

I’m really disappointed Maxwell & Kennedy stopped making chocolates….from their large upstairs store in Princes Square, Glasgow…they then moved to the anals of the Square where no one could find them.  Furthermore, they opened a chocolate outlet at the bottom of the shopping centre in Buchanan st which also went of business.

Chocolates from Maxwell & Kennedy were excellent.  I’ve been over the world and still haven’t found anything to compete.  Fortunately, Maxwell & Kennedy are still available in London for some lucky punters…but no online store.

To me it’s a good product which has been badly marketed, and a business model that hasn’t moved with the times.

Jenners chocolate truffles.

October 30, 2007

I just got Jenners chocolate truffles recently for my birthday.

They were OK but lacked the consistency of a proper chocolate truffle.  Instead they melted in your mouth a bit quick.

Nice though they were, they did not compare to handmade chocolates.

I still say Heaven is the best chocolate bar available.

…potatoe scone and eggs.  Mmmm…friend in olive oil.  Yum.

Had some amazing chocolate (homemade) at a friends at the weekend and a superb tiramusu…wow that was amazing.

Otherwise, being trying to stay off the hard stuff (chocolate) lol.

Got the GU chocolate brownies from Tescos the other day.

Kinda half-way house between the long life shelf type stuff (e.g.Mr Kipling) and a fresh baked cake.

The brownies need refridgerated but keep for some weeks.

Anyway I loved them, nice when a tad cold although you can heat them up.  No transfat and no overdose of gum-numbing sugar.

Yum!

Chocolate is in fact good for you (as well as bad).

The type is probably the one with large amount of cocoa solids like dark chocolate, made in Europe (not UK).

Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants which fight the free radicals in your body.

It also lowers blood pressure and has an ingredients responsible for energy supplementation.  I once had to work 24 hours and during the night I had small pieces of chocolate every hour to keep myself going - it worked!
